Named John Olerud Two-Player of the Week on March 8, 2022 (5-for-14, 4 RBI, 2 SB, 1 save).
Had six hits and two RBI in series at No. 15 Florida ... Went 7-for-17 in opening series vs. Purdue Fort Wayne ... Homered twice in the Presbyterian series ... Hit a 3-run homer in the first inning on Sunday win at ULM, when he also earned a save ... Had a 3-run homer in Saturday win at Coastal Carolina ... Scored from second base on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give GSU a 6-5 walk-off win over Kennesaw State.
Led the team with a 3.00 ERA and a .209 batting average against ... Ranked seventh in the Sun Belt with five saves, along with a 2-3 record ... Struck out 37 in 36 innings ... Earned his first save in one-run win over Purdue Fort Wayne as he came on in the ninth and recorded strikeouts for final two outs ... Pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts vs. No. 10 Georgia Tech ... Finished the 3-0 shutout of Villanova with two hitless, scoreless frames for his second save ... Pitched two scoreless innings in 4-1 win at Wofford for save No. 3 ... Saved series-clincher vs. Presbyterian with two scoreless innings, including five strikeouts ... Saved the Sunday win at ULM, when he also homered ... Earned Sunday win vs. South Alabama with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts ... Made one start at Troy and pitched five innings, allowing two runs on four hits.
2021: First-team All-Sun Belt Conference as the utility player ... Friday starting pitcher who also started at first base or in the outfield.
Started on the mound every weekend but one and moved into the Friday slot in mid-April vs. App State ... Earned a win at Texas State, when he pitched six innings and struck out six ... Pitched a complete game in loss at South Alabama, when he allowed four runs on five hits over eight innings. That is the first complete game for a GSU pitcher since Hunter Gaddis in 2019. Retired the final 11 batters ... The following Friday in 2-1 win over Coastal Carolina, he allowed just one run on two hits in six innings with a career-high seven strikeouts. He shut out the Chanticleers for the first five innings, giving him 10 straight scoreless innings ... Also struck out seven in 5.1 innings vs. Georgia Southern, when he allowed two runs on five hits. No decision but the Panthers rallied to win the game and clinch the series ... Strong start at ULM, when he pitched into the eighth inning. Allowed three runs on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks ... Made his first career start vs. No. 14 West Virginia but did not get a decision in GSU’s 20-4 victory ... Pitched four innings in start at No. 17 Tennessee, allowing one run on three hits.
Hit ..275 with one homer and 10 RBI ... Played in 24 games in the field, including 19 starts, primarily at first base ... Had one of his biggest moments at the plate with a three-run homer--the first of his career--in the Panthers’ 9-run, 9th-inning rally to defeat App State. Also had an RBI-double in the 15-13 win ... Followed with three hits at No. 20 Georgia ... Had four hits in back-to-back wins over Troy, including three hits and three runs scored in Sunday’s 17-15 series clincher ... Delivered game-tying double in the bottom of the 14th inning vs. Wofford and then scored the game-winner on Trey Horton’s single ... On the final day of the regular season, he drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the seventh inning to send GSU to 11-10 win over Little Rock.
2020: Earned a key role in the bullpen as a true freshman with a 2-1 record and one save in six appearances ... Posted a 1.00 ERA and a .107 batting average against ... Collected 12 strikeouts while allowing just three hits in 9.0 innings ... Also played in five games in the field and hit .273 with four RBI.
Earned a win over 2019 NCAA Regional team Cincinnati and a save against St. John’s in his first two college appearances ... Got the Opening Day victory against Cincinnati by finishing the game with 1.2 innings of scoreless, hitless relief. In the top of the 10th inning, he pitched a rare Immaculate Inning, striking out the side on nine pitches, to set up the Panthers’ walk-off in the bottom half ... One day later against St. John’s, Jones entered the game with one on and no outs in the top of the eighth and GSU holding a two-run lead. He pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, to preserve the Panthers’ 7-5 victory ... In 3-1 win over North Alabama, he pitched two scoreless frames in the sixth and seventh innings and then broke a 0-0 tie with an RBI-triple in the bottom of the seventh, earning himself the victory on the mound.
